This pink, right, called
'Parfait' was used
to try out our pruning case study, as described in
Newsletter 33 and in our Articles section.
As you can
see it is in excellent condition and was covered in flower
in '2007'.
I think that
members should 'trial' this method and report back on their
results.

Here it is this year '2010',
the tree is better than ever, clear proof that a ten minute clip
and shape with shears as opposed to hours of wiring can give a
spectacular result - although we are waiting for trial results
based on several consecutive years pruning, before we can give
a conclusive recommendation to this method.

<< This 'Orange flowered' tree
which is almost certainly the variety "Kashuron"
has been in my possession now for about 10 years and I love the
colour. It has been grown as a broom type tree and this
maximises the effect that the blooms have in springtime.

Spring comes early in Cornwall! - this
picture was taken in
April 2010 and shows one of my satsuki's in full
flower. It too was pruned using the pink branch
technique and, as you can see, is flowering its heart out. >>

< Picture of
R. Indicum sent in by Peter Toghill. This tree has been outside
all winter in the midlands and is certainly looking non the
worst for it.

Pictures sent
in by Steve Davis showing a close up of flower and tree. Steve
bought this tree from Alex Kennedy some time ago, and the
striking feature is the colour combination. Unfortunately the
variety is not known. - thanks Steve for sharing it with us.
This tree was purchased in 2006
from Peter Chan's 'Herons' nursery in Surrey and it came
into flower, 2nd June 2007. It has been semi-pruned by Alex
Kennedy and will be re-potted in spring 2011. The pot is 40cm diameter and the
tree is approx. 60 cm high above the pot. The nebari at it
widest point is 14 cm.
